Our Ministry Model

Experience has taught us...

It takes three years to effectively train a multiplying leader.

YLI provides relational discipleship and leadership coaching of young Christian leaders in countries with significant leadership needs. We draw young leaders into our discipleship community where we train and equip them for a lifetime of fruitful kingdom leadership in their community, ministry, and family. YLI’s coaching process is progressive, and constantly moving deeper into Love.

YLI’s relational discipleship process is distinctive in that we do not only seek to produce mature spiritual leaders, but we partner with other agencies to develop well-rounded leaders all aspects of life and ministry like: leading in the family, character development, theological education, entrepreneurship and vocational discernment.

Focusing on a few

leads to greater impact

Following the example of Jesus and the apostles, Young Leaders International invests time and resources discipling small numbers of carefully selected young leaders. This focus on spiritual depth has sparked new movements of the gospel around West Africa.

Commitment to Discipleship

by modeling 2 Timothy 2:2

We identify young men and women between the ages of 18-35 who possess leadership qualities and are already deeply involved in their immediate communities. We invite them into our discipleship culture, and train them to disciple others

A Network of Discipleship

through communities of young leaders

YLI believes in the value of deep community (an experience that has been largely lost in the West), and in the contributions of all cultures in the Body of Christ. Drawing upon the strength of our friends’ cultures, we connect leaders from different nations together so we all can contribute, learn, and participate in each others successes.

Practical Acts of Love

with an eternal impact

Central to the YLI vision is the value of a loving lifestyle lived out in relationship with lost, broken and hurting people. For us, Love is the ‘main thing’. We partner with leaders on love-evangelism projects like clean water, education, sports and church planting.

A Passion for the Unreached

and sharing God's Love

Despite the advances in technology and modern communication, there still remain millions of individuals who have not heard the gospel of Jesus Christ. YLI Coaches and trained leaders are actively moving intentionally into unreached areas.

Our Leadership Process

Basic Training (Year One)

In our Basic Trainings, we invite young leaders who demonstrate intimacy with God and lives full of Love to learn more about who we are.

We train these disciples on:

  • Intimacy with God
  • Love Evangelism
  • Spiritual Multiplication
  • ... and how to have fun together!

Listening Groups

Our leaders return to their community and commit to hosting listening groups, where they are guiding other people in their community to go deeper with God and others in discipleship.

Developing Leaders Summit (Year Two)

In our Developing Leaders Summit (DLS), we invite young leaders who have been part of our follow up small groups and continuing to demonstrate Love and leadership in their communities.

We train these disciples on more advanced leadership and discipleship concepts and skills, and invite a few to become our next generation of Interns!
